Tony I got in!

It was over two years ago I set on a mission to get into Tony's legion, known as 'The Watford Course' or 'The Oxbridge of Advertising' as noted by many professionals in the industry.

I was focused on this goal of getting into my dream course, and so I drew up ideas everyday thanks to being part of the community of One Minutes Briefs.

However it was not just that I answered almost every brief that Nick (Head of One Minutes Briefs) released, becoming a respected member and stacking up some wins, but the energy I gave out as a creative to be noticed in this industry.

That flash of liveliness caught the attention of Tony himself, and I soon knew I was on track, but due to having bad patience which I need to sort out, I could not wait any longer for a interview date, and went looking for other opportunities.

This lead me to find SCA2, who contacted me straight away, invited me to their interview day, it was a amazing experience, I met many great creatives looking to break into the industry there, it was a very warm welcome and I made a splash with my presentation in front of the class, here is a taster!

At that point after being accepted, that was it I have settle on where I was going, but then Tony announced the interview day, and I received a email from West Herts College asking if I was going.

Well I have been waiting over two years for this, so yes, lets finally meet Tony and witness his interviewing process which I had researched so much into.

I came to Publicis London on Baker Street where the Tony interview was stationed, I was guided by a kind reception to the cafe where the Watford mentors and interviewees sat waiting for the clock to tick ready for the big interview.

Then we all went to the top floor into a boardroom for the interview, given a long speech by Tony on what to expect on the course, soon lead by a quiz on the industry which I sadly got a 4/10 on, followed by a book critic.

And what can I say, I was stunned, in a good way to be extract, his critic was harsh but brutality honest, and I loved that, because that is what the creative industry is like, its not easy, and your going to get your work ripped to pieces over and over again until you achieve something great, Tony basically gave us a reality check.

So there I met someone who completely destroyed my portfolio I had prepared, ate it up and spat it out, he told me it lacked depth in thinking, that there was not range of products that could stretch me and that all my ideas where the same etc... however he did say I had energy.

I said to myself after the interview, here is someone who can really push me to the edge, that can break me and reinvent me into far better creative, a creative that can climb to the top of the industry!

The interview blew me away, and all I could think about, dream about was getting onto that course, that release of life to improve to be better, I discarded my portfolio, to me it was shit, I needed to do far much better, Tony had opened my eyes.

So when the email came through the next day from Tony offering me a place, I had to look at it 1000 times to be sure it was real, and when my nerve was settled slightly I celebrated!

The official letter came I accepted the offer, and I was calm, job done, I had succeeded in making my dream become a reality!

Tony I got in!
